This video shows how a robot equipped with the Robotiq Adaptive Gripper can replace a custom made fixture to reduce hard tooling and changeovers costs in high-mix welding applications.
How it works:
- For each part, a grip mode and welding sequence is pre-defined.
- The vision system locates the part. The trajectory of the positioner robot is adjusted using the vision information to pick and place the part.
- The gripper is equipped with a spatter proof glove.
The vision and programming have been done by CRVI. CRVI is a Robotiq partner equipped with several positioner robots with Adaptive Grippers and welding robots. They are a non-for-profit industrial robotics laboratory that can support manufacturing companies wanting to evaluate the potential of the flexible robotic fixturing in their production.
By using this reprogrammable fixture, manufacturers doing high-mix productions can reduce their fixtures and changeovers costs.
