The Hannover Trade Fair, also known as the Hannover Messe, is a chance for innovation and new technology to be demonstrated to the public. Japanese robot manufacturer, Kawasaki was right in the middle of the action unveiling its newest model.

In this short video, Kawasaki gives us a sneak peak of its new Delta Picker (YF03N) on show at Hannover in 2009.

Commonly referred to as a Delta, Picker or Spider robot, the extremely fast operation of this robot is best used for high speed picking, packing and handling applications and is ideal in a number of industries including food, cosmetic, electronic and much more.

This model is capable of achieving short cycle times of 0.27 seconds for a 1 kg payload and 0.45 seconds for a 3 kg payload. The robot has a work envelope of 1,300mm, which equates to a maximum of 175 picks per minute. It is available in a 4 axis design but can be optioned to include a 5th axis for faster picking or broader application eg picking up two parts in one cycle.
