Automated machining of FRP composite materials.
At the European gathering for industry insiders and experts in composite materials, the JEC Composites Show Paris, Augsburg-based automation specialist and system builder KUKA Systems will be informing visitors about flexible applications for automated machining and processing of plastic composites. The JEC Composites Show is being held at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center in Paris from 13 to 15 April 2010.
Innovative processes for measuring, drilling and milling CRP materials, automated application of adhesives and sealants for processing materials or automatic riveting and assembly of composite components and elements. High-tech automation solutions from technology group KUKA are ideally suited to the requirements of flexible production processes in the automotive, aerospace and energy industries.
For the wind power sector, the Augsburg-based company will be informing visitors about concepts and applications for laying carbon or glass fiber-reinforced plastics, automated trimming and machining of blade roots and activation of surfaces in the finishing process of rotor blade manufacture.
The aerospace industry benefits from automation expertise in the area of automated assembly processes for metallic and composite materials. End effectors, tools for the robot wrist, and solutions for high-precision drilling and milling operations or acquisition of measurement data are all being presented at the JEC Composite Show.
Last year in Paris, KUKA Systems received the prestigious JEC Innovation Award, for the innovative KUKA Induflex. This jointly developed, robot-guided tool can be used, for example, to weld three-dimensional plastic composite parts together for the automotive industry by means of an induction process.
