Due to hit our shores for the first time later this year is the newest and most technically advanced robot controller, the E-Controller, from industry leaders Kawasaki.
Coordinating the importation of the new E-Controllers is Kawasaki specialists and Australian Agents, Robot Technologies Systems Australia Pty Ltd (RTA). RTA Sales and Marketing Manager, Trinton Smith explains what it is that makes the E-Controller so remarkable, “The Kawasaki E-Controller combines high performance, unprecedented reliability, a host of integrated features and simple operation all in a compact design.”
Impressive stuff! But not surprising considering the E-Controller is the culmination of more than 42 years of robotic experience and product development by the team at Kawasaki.
We chat more with Trinton Smith about the stand out features of the E-Controller, and theres a few!
Firstly, there’s the user-friendly operation, “The E-Controller incorporates motor power and cycle start right at your finger tips. The easy to use teach pendant has large icons, you can view multiple information screens simultaneously and there are even helpful pop-up windows on the same screen which is ideal for training purposes.” says Smith.
The high performance CPU provides extremely accurate trajectory control, high-speed program execution as well as extremely fast loading and saving of files. The USB memory allowance alone of the E-Controller is 8MB (or 80,000 steps), that is an extraordinary eight times its predecessor!
Available as a Standard or Compact version, the E-Controller boasts a large variety of unique features designed to support a wide range of applications and industry automation. The extremely powerful Kawasaki AS Language allows for sophisticated motion and sequence and productivity is maximised with industry leading reliability (96,000MTBF).
Another notable feature is the expandability of the E-Controller. Smith explains, “As many as 16 external axes can be added for total of 22 axis control. Numerous communication field buses are available for controlling peripheral devices. The Kawasaki K-Logic sequencer software can be combined with user-customised interface panels on the teach pendant.”
The real clincher is the easy maintenance. The E-Controller has modular components with limited cables so it allows for easy diagnostics and maintenance. An on board DIAG (self-diagnostic) function minimises troubleshooting and reduces MTTR. Remote Diagnostics via the web server enables service support from anywhere in the world. Thoughtful additions like a one-touch exchange of the fan, eliminates the need for a screwdriver! To save time there is also a reduced number of screws in the Servo Amplifier, MC Unit and Card Rack.
“Kawasaki has currently sold over 1,800 units worldwide. We’re really excited to be bringing such an innovative product to the manufacturers in Australia and New Zealand, to give them the chance to experience the benefits of the E-Controller.”
